SEVEN GMACFOA 5-MAN CREWS TO SEE ACTION IN WEEK ONE!
Assignments are out for Week One of the FHSAA Playoffs and the GMACFOA will be sending officials to games at Northeast
(Oakland Park), Taravella (Coral Springs), Miramar, Glades Central (Belle Glades), American Heritage (Delray), University
School (Ft. Lauderdale) and Southridge. While the Southridge is a bit of a surprise the GMACFOA did officiate the tie-breaker
between Southridge, Killian and Coral Reef and the FHSAA has previously stated that their is no inherent conflict in an association
officiating a game between to teams within the same county. Good luck to all the crews going out this week.
Several Miami-Dade Crews will be in action this Thursday and Friday. Chain crews have been requested and assignments
will be sent using arbiter. so it is important to keep your availability up to date.
Officiating crews will grow to seven officials next week. The GMACFOA has submitted 5 crews to the FHSAA and hopefully
all 5 crews will be called upon next week on the way to the State Finals in Orlando.

WHO WEARS SHORT SHORTS?
WE WEAR SHORT SHORTS!
GMACFOA Members recently voted to expand the use of shorts to include varsity contests that kickoff before
6pm. While shorts we previously authorized for afternoon JV contest all varsity games required our new black officiating
pants. The new policy makes it the referee's option for the crew so members should make contact with their referee before
any afternoon game. So far no crew has taken advantage of the authorization approved by members.
MEETING ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED
We had our first general membership meeting at South Miami High School last night. Members are reminded
that meeting attendance is required and with 91 of 141 in attendance we fell short of 100%. A reminder that if you cannot
make it you must contact GMACFOA Secretary Abe Dawson, President Joe Underwood or Assigner Carlos Calveiro before the meeting
or within a reasonable time after if it is unexpected. If you can't make it fine! We understand that things come
up in our lives that cause us to miss membership meetings, however meeting attendance is required and compiled in your ratings
points. Missed meetings beyond one without good cause as determined by the Assigner will result in fines and assignments
will be withheld until paid. Make it a point to attend all meetings you may miss something important.
For those members who unfortunately received a fine notice their will be a link on the bottom of this page
to pay your fine online. Remember fines will be used as part of the GMACFOA Community Service Projects.
GMACFOA IS NAMED FHSAA 2011 ASSOCIATION OF THE YEAR!

| Jerry Gomez and Cheryl Golden show off award. |
While describing what this years winner brought to officiating, Jamie C. Rohrer, FHSAA Director
of Athletics cited our broad efforts off the field as the reason that our application stood out earning the award.
In accepting the award GMACFOA Treasurer, Jerry Gomez recognized President, Joe Underwood and his belief that by getting involved
the GMACFOA was able to evolve further since winning the award years earlier. Jerry served notice that we intended to
go for back to back awards and were getting off to a running start, pun intended, with the Runnin Refs on August 13th!
Our thanks go out to all our members in particular those who stepped forward for a number of
events, donated school supplies or simply bought a raffle ticket.

you to all those members who participated directly by raising funds and running and/or walking, and to those who contribued
